Our award-winning development—Victoria Riverside is a redevelopment of an industrial site containing listed buildings (former Hunslet and Victoria Flax spinning mills) dating back to 1842.
The scheme will deliver 350 apartments from two new-build buildings and five existing mill conversions, comprising a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, including high-specification rooftop penthouses with outside balconies.
In this penultimate phase of the scheme, a further 95 contemporary apartments have been delivered on time and on budget by the end of 2021. The 3.1-acre site on Atkinson Street in Hunslet has been purchased by Leeds-based developer JM Construction (Leeds) Ltd and designed by Beckwith Design Associates Ltd (BDA).
As an LABC award-winning scheme in 2020 and 2021, Victoria Riverside has proved its significance among high-volume new housing developments. The impact of development on the society and environment is tremendous. It has been selected as one of the best practice mill conversions that have a considerable contribution to Northern England in terms of sustainability and impact on the community according to a Historic England report.
The reuse of 40- years of derelict mill buildings structures and local materials integrated well with modern touches, will contribute to the wider regeneration of Hunslet and provide much-needed housing and improve connectivity between Hunslet and the City Centre.
